IRP Transactions

IRP and BPR transactions must be conducted electronically. All supporting documentation must be received by the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR)'s Motor Carrier Services IRP Unit within 20 days from the processing date. Below are specific IRP transactions and the items required by DOR.

Add Vehicle

For processing this type of transaction:

  • A Schedule C must be completed;
  • A copy of a processed Indiana title or application for title is required. It must be in the name of the registrant. If leased, the title can be an out-of-state processed title. Submit title work along with completed signed-over information, ST-108, ST-108E, and Power of Attorney, if necessary;
  • Proof of payment of the Federal Form 2290 for the current year is required. If the vehicle purchase date is within 60 days of the date of plating, this form is not required. Motor Carrier Services accepts payments unless they are for increasing a vehicle weight;
  • A copy of the vehicle lease agreement is required for all leased vehicles.

Plate Transfer

For processing this type of transaction:

  • A Schedule C must be completed;
  • A copy of a processed Indiana title or application for title is required. It must be in the name of the registrant unless the vehicle is a leased vehicle. If leased, the title can be an out-of-state processed title. Submit the title work along with the completed signed-over information, ST-108, ST-108E, and Power of Attorney, if necessary. Proof of payment of the Federal Form 2290 for the current year is required. If the vehicle(s’) purchased date is within 60 days of the date of plating, this form is not required. Motor Carrier Services accepts payments, unless payment is for increasing a vehicle weight;
  • A copy of the vehicle lease agreement is required for all leased vehicles;
  • The original cab card registration of the transferred plate must be returned.

Complete Schedule C for processing the following types of transactions:

  • Weight Increase (Include a receipted proof of payment of Federal Form 2290 for the current year if the vehicle weight exceeds 54,999 pounds.)
  • VIN Correction (Include a copy of the title or title application showing the corrected vehicle identification number - VIN.)
  • Model Year Change (Include a copy of the title or title application showing the changed model year.)
  • Weight Decrease (Only decrease the Indiana weight. No refund will be issued.)
